8x8 Floral Cards

Although all of these cards are variations on  a theme, I have to say that they have been my favourite to make lately.

With four different layers of matting before the decoupage starts, the cards a very heavy once they are complete, but they have a very grand and elegant look, and it feels wonderful to be able to hand them to my friends on their special days, knowing the time that went into producing something, that has been chosen and laid out especially for their personalities.

8x8 card blanks are now my new favourite LOL.

I hope you like them as much as me.

A Little Doolicraft

Whilst visiting Trago a little while ago, I bought a card making set from Doolicraft.  It contained various decoupage sheets, 8 card blank, envelopes and miscellaneous cards and papers.  All in all a really good bargain.

I opened the box on about 4 different occasions before I got the inspiration to do anything with them, and then suddenly, I got it together and came up with these

There are some Get Well,

Then there are some generic that can have labels attached as I am asked for them.

All in all, not a bad set to buy, and so far everyone seems to love the cute look.

I don’t really think they are my style, and probably won’t make them again, but I think that they were a good buy at the time.

Aperture Bear

This little chap was in a kit I bought from Trago a few months ago.

I needed a birthday card for Elaine, and though this would be something different.

I placed the decoupaged tree and bears on the outside of the aperture, and placed coloured paper on the inside to tone it all together.

I was quite please with the results.

A Bouquet For My Friend

P4260002

The Garden Steps CD-Rom was the order of the day for the card I wanted to make for Liz.

I had decided to make a centre stepper card, and chose this bold red flower design that gives the effect of a garden bouquet sat on your sideboard or window sill.

P4260003

I was really pleased with how well it turned out, and promptly got it into the post box for her birthday on the 29th.

Happy Birthday Liz, I hope you have a wonderful day x.

Piggy In The Middle

It was Duncan’s birthday a short while ago and  I decided to use a little cute piggy on the centre of his card, mainly because of an in joke related to work!

P4120001

I used a CD-ROM where you create you entire card on your computer screen and then print it off and glue to the front of a card blank.

I printed the picture twice, and cut the centre image out and decoupaged it onto the top of the original, therefore adding some dimension to the card.

Hope you had a good one ‘dwarling’.  mwah, mwah!

Ballet Babes

My cousin has her 39th Birthday in the next few days, and with this little image I could not have found a better design for her.
She loves ballet and she loves pink!

Simons Birthday

Simon's birthday was causing me a problem...... I'm not good with men's cards!
When I spotted this cyclist on a die cut sheet I wash chuffed to bits. He loves his bike, and it's because of him that Paul upgraded his bike 18 months ago.
I used a black card blank, and green textured card matt to give the effect of the countryside the imaged chap is cycling over.
Very simple, but as I said, I'm not good with mens cards!
Happy Birthday Simon.

For Vikki

Having made a card for Sally-Ann to send, I then needed one for us.....
This one I created using the Fleur Francais CD-ROM, again from Kraftyhands.
Even the inserts are included on the disc, so you really can give those finishing touches to your cards with them.
Happy Birthday Vikki.

Honeysuckle

It's Vikki's 30th birthday today, and Sally-Ann asked if I could make a card for her to send to her.
I used the Kraftyhands Garden Steps Collection CD-ROM for this one.
I've never made a stepper card before, but this was very easy, and a template is provided on the disc for you to follow. Also each element is printed separately with a 'map' to show where it fits on the card blank once it is cut and folded.
I decoupaged the butterflies and shaped them to give the feeling of flight between the flowers on each layer.
I think that both Sally-Ann and Vikki were pleased with the result.

Two Today - My Godson

I cannot believe that my gorgeous Godson is already two years old!
The card I made for him was from the Toy Box Collection on the CD-ROM by Kraftyhands.
I discovered this company at the Craft show when I went with Tracey and Alison earlier in the year. All of us instantly loved the displays of cards they had produced from their discs and so, between us, Tracey and I bought 4 different collections, and she was kind enough to lend me this disc to use for Dylan's card.
I hope that my lovely Godson has a great Birthday. xx

Mikes Birthday

Another year Mike! Happy Birthday!
I put together this Thomas Kincaide card for him, from my CD-ROM. It is a slight variation on what it should have been, as I thought it would work better.
The only thing I am not happy about is the white from the cut edge of the decoupage, but I've told Mike that I want to edge it in gold for him, and he can have it back!
I chose this image, as I wanted to get something that resembled lighthouse hill, where they live.
Only the best for my friends LOL x

Butterly Floral

It's my Aunts birthday next week. I wanted to make something super special, as this is her first birthday since losing Emily. Fred thought so too, and decided to help....

This is actually a Do Crafts kit, and it went together beautifully. It's the first time that I have used silicone glue for decoupage, but I was thrilled with the result, even if I did have to wait for it to dry.

and, even better, as I am posting this well after the fact (sorry about that, today is 05 March not 17 Feb!) I can tell you that she loved it, and even said it was my best yet!
High praise indeed!

Forever Older

One of my bestest buds, Kelly, has a birthday on Friday. I used my Forever Friends Black and Gold CD-ROM to make this.
I used opalescent A4 card folded to make an A5 card, and then printed some backing papers, ribbons and embellishments.
The large images were altered by placing foam pads behind the frame and sitting it over the top of the image below to give a photo effect.
I printed the insert on the PC and personalised it with her name.
Happy Birthday my lovely - see you down here in May x

Black and Gold Forever Friends

Firstly - I must apologise to Yvonne for not posting this sooner - she told me off LOL
This is my first attempt at using my Forever Friends Black and Gold Limited Edition CD-ROM.
I know that some people have had an issue with the compatibility of the disc with their computer software, but I have to say, that once I managed to install the software for the disc onto my laptop, I have had no issues and have found it a wonderful disc to use.
The screen layout allows you to place everything on your virtual card to see how it will look, before you commit to printing anything and wasting ink unecessarily.
As I only received the disc a couple of days before Denise's birthday, I had to familiarise myself with it quite quickly, and as you can see, didn't do too badly, I don't think.
I used the Do-Crafts recycled card blanks in a 13.5x13.5 square, and folded the front cover in half to create an easel card, before covering in the backing papers and toppers that I printed from the disc. I also printed extra toppers so that I could decoupage them.
The frames on the disc made a great sentiment box, and were the support to hold the front of the easel in position.
Happy Birthday Denise x

Rose Garden

I have a gent at work who regularly asks me to make him a 'Special' card, and this is the latest one I have done for him.
His wife's birthday falls just before Christmas, and as you all know, buying a birthday card so close to Christmas is a no no.
Once more I used my wonderful Thomas Kincaide CD-ROM, this time choosing from the shaped decoupage card section.
I was thrilled with how well the card came out, and so was he! It's so nice to be able to make something for someone who really appreciates your craft.

Steam Engine Dreams

My friend asked me to make a card for her. It was her husbands birthday and she wanted something unique for him.

I was originally going to use my Popcorn Bear discs, however I remembered that he loves steam trains, and found a copyright free image that I was able to use.

I used a black card blank, to co-ordinate with the back and white image, and mounted some black and white papers onto some silver mirri card.

The final touch was to add the peels off sentiments.
